Guest Posted 3 February , 2018 Share Posted 3 February , 2018 Hi I'm trying to trace my mum's family tree and found out that her dad, my grandad. served in the above battalion. Can anyone point me in the correct direction to obtain some information please? Thank you
charlie962 Posted 3 February , 2018 Share Posted 3 February , 2018 (edited) Hello ShazzaC I presume it is JH Jackson you want to trace? If you could tell us his full name, date and place of birth it would help us get you started. Better still do you have his medals or any discharge papers that give us his Service Number ? Was he ever wounded ? There is a lot of information on how to research a soldier on the 'LongLongTrail' site here In the meantime a quick look at the Medal Roll for the British War and Victory Medals throws up a name for the 7th DCLI: But given that J Jackson is not an uncommon name we mustn't leap on the first name that seems to fit! sotonmate Posted 3 February , 2018 Share Posted 3 February , 2018 Forces War Records have an entry in the Hospital section for 1917 under a slightly different number 23695 DCLI.

DCLI Posted 25 May , 2018 Share Posted 25 May , 2018 Buy a copy of The History of the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry 1914 - 1918 - not cheap but you can trace the units movements throughout the wat.. My Grandfather was also 7th DCLI.
