Details on Ancestry - according to his Medal Index Card :

Frederick Alwyn Hollis previously Pte #2916 London Regiment

Commissioned into the Black Watch 07.10.15

Died at home 17.12.16

Can't find him in Soldiers Died in the Great War records but he is in the Soldiers' Effects with same date of death - his battalion was the 2/6th.

CWGC has him dying on 16.12.16 - the grave registration document has 17.12.16 changed to 10.12.16 just to complicate matters... He is buried in Norwich cemetary.

His MIC has two addresses - the one crossed out is c/o Dr Snell, 7 Park Row, Nottingham, the other is his brother's address in Towcester (C H Hollis esq.). Park Row was the site of Nottingham General Hospital which took in wounded and those suffering from "trench fever, nephritis, neuritis and shellshock".

NB 'died at home' above means not abroad.

Also can't locate his service papers at the National Archives either.
