Hello

browsing through the war diary of the 32nd DAC I noticed MMs awarded "in connection with a gas projector scheme" to Pte Stathers L/14032 and Sgt Rainton l/14022. If you have ancestry the link to the diary is here

and thoughts on what this scheme was or why MMs awarded ?

cheers

This article doesn't explain it but shows he was recommended several times. From Hull Daily Mail via FindmyPast

I didn't see any other military reports but if you put Rainton and Hull Police you will get a number of hits pre and postwar. He died 1913. 1939  .He was a police Sgt when he left the force.

32 DAC War Diary wonderfully easy to read! I will look in my copy Trench Mortar Memories.
