Hello,

1st Bn East Yorkshires were with the 64th brigade 21st Division at this time.

And 1st Bn is 1st Bn.

Whats the name etc of your chap? If you don't mind me asking.

Chris I am looking at all the chaps on the local memorial here in Withernsea then they are being displayed at the Wartime Experance weekend in June.

I am looking at

Pte 30580 John Wilkins E York’s Reg.

could only find a little on him but looked again today and found his service records under 92347 KOYLI.

Also suprised he had three other brothers who survived the war and his father was awarded the OBE.

Chris when you put E York’s Reg in ancestry card catalogue on the right it only has 17, 28, 31 & 50 Divisions.

The 1st East Yorkshires joined the 21st Division in November 1915, is it the war diary you're after?

If so, in the 'keyword' box, put 2161/2, that should get your diary

Yeah it’s been an eye opener looking at all of them on the memorial

-One had German name and changed it.

-Other joined and fought with a German name and while he died his father was classed as an illegal alien

- other POW for 4 years and died on repat to UK

- 1 drowned while stationed here after his doc said sea water is good for arthritis

Thanks Chris

Looking at the 25th April 1918 was a last stand around the BHQ and not many survived. Lots missing as well.

These lads had b***s of steel to go thro what they did.

r u ex Artillery?

No, ex Cav, Royal Scots Dragoon Guards.

Great Grandfather was RFA, and a number of other members of my family were Artillery.
