ArmyOfficer Posted 1 January , 2005 Share Posted 1 January , 2005 The last picture I'll post for fourteen months. If you look closely you can see the red cross on the side of the barn; nice to find some traces of the original paintings still on buildings. This one is just north of the hop store ... KONDOA Posted 1 January , 2005 Share Posted 1 January , 2005 Hi AO A lovely picture and of interest. We have a "relative" buried in Hop Store Cemetery who was a driver with the Ambulance Service. It was always assumed he was with the station near the windmill (main road) but this offers more possibilties. Where is this location map wise??? Aurel Sercu Posted 1 January , 2005 Share Posted 1 January , 2005 Where is this location map wise??? Roop It's the narrow road at the beginning of which Hop Store Cemetery is (Vlamertinge), leading northwest from the road Vlamertinge - Poperinge. There are two or three farms (or buildings) along it, the first 200 m north of the cemetery, the second some 400 meters, the third some 600 meters. But I can't remember which one it is. Anyway, the cross is there indeed. Not very clearly visible, but as soon as your attention is drawn to it ... If you go by car : it's a dead end street IIRC. KONDOA Posted 1 January , 2005 Share Posted 1 January , 2005 Thanks Aurel, it seems lucky that this building has survived as Vlamertinghe recieved severe shelling later in the war. Roop
