steve140968 Posted 30 December , 2004 Share Posted 30 December , 2004 Can anyone please advise me on the correct cemetary/memorial where solders of the 16th batalion Middlesex regiment would be remembered . The time/place that i am looking for are for the battle of Monchy le Preux / Orange Hill on the 24/4/1917 , many thanks . Steve .
Paul Reed Posted 30 December , 2004 Share Posted 30 December , 2004 To be honest they could be in any number of cemeteries. The cemeteries in Monchy itself do not cover much of the 29th Divisions tour of duty in the area. There may be some in Feucnhy Chapel otherwise Wancourt is a good bet. Arras has one of the highest proportions of missing of any WW1 British battlefield - with most of those who died in 1917 on the Arras memorial. There is a guide to this area and all the related cemeteries in my forthcoming Walking Arras which should be out in mid-2005.
steve140968 Posted 30 December , 2004 Author Share Posted 30 December , 2004 Cheers Paul , just putting out some feelers for a possible visit . Any idea why they should have suffered such a high proportion of missing ? Steve .
