Hedley Malloch Posted 23 May , 2003 Share Posted 23 May , 2003 Gallipoli is the subject of Programme 9 in TGW BBC series. It should be shown this weekend if there are two programmes broadcast. Look out for the old gent with the very impressive moustache right at the end describing the evacuation; I am pretty sure that he is Joe Murray, an RND veteran whose memoirs are compulsory reading for all Gallipoli and RND reserachers. Bryn_Hammond Posted 23 May , 2003 Share Posted 23 May , 2003 I had the honour of meeting Joe when he was over 90 in a nursing home in Dorking. I went with Peter Hart, the IWM's Oral Historian. Peter had done one of his most detailed recordings with Joe about the latter's experiences and it is now in the IWM Sound Archive. It runs to 45 half-hour reels of tape!
