charlesmessenger Posted 8 December , 2017 Share Posted 8 December , 2017 I think it more likely means that the Bn was assisting the RE Tunnellers, who were actually responsible for tunnelling and laying of underground mines. 19th Welsh was a pioneer battalion and so could carry out some non-specialist RE tasks.
