'Tracks to the Trenches' 2018 and an appeal for help

The Moseley Railway Trust based at the Apedale Railway at Newcastle under Lyme will be having their final centenary event on 13th to 15th July 2018.  The scale of this event very much depends on sponsorship so this is a plea to anyone with an interest in trench railways to see what they can do to support the event.  If you know of any firms or organisations who might make a contribution, even a few hundred pounds, please contact the railway or PM me.  With luck the event will see WD Hunslet 4-6-0T No. 1215 back in steam after years in exile 'down under' and a long and difficult restoration, and, if sufficient funds are forthcoming, to bring this British locomotive together with its counterpart, the WD Baldwin 4-6-0T.  The presence of other locomotives is also planned.

 

It is hoped to focus the event on the role of the artillery and that of the trench railways in carrying and supplying the guns.  Needless to say, if readers of this forum have a contribution to make or equipment to exhibit, they would be very welcome.  Having opened this page I will try to keep it updated with developments and news of sponsors.
