FROGSMILE Posted 14 August , 2017 Share Posted 14 August , 2017 (edited) Can anyone help please with tracing any further details for Thomas Maddick, who re-enlisted in WW1 under the name Thomas Maddock. Thomas enlisted in the RMLI Devonport Division on 12 Jan 1886, having declared his date of birth as 12 Jan 1867, and it is unclear when he was discharged, but he has a 'Register Number of 3689. It is known that he re-enlisted in the Devonshire Regiment in 1915, as Thomas Maddock, having falsified his age. His service number is barely legible, but seems to be 44354 ? He was discharged at Fovant Dispersal Centre on 4 Feb 1919, but his unit at that time is unclear (possibly Labour Corps?). What is particularly sought are details of his RMLI service, as that might well show the ships on which he served, but also his unit movements during WW1. He seems to have been too old to have stayed in the Devonshire's for very long. Any help, or advice will be gratefully received. horatio2 Posted 14 August , 2017 Share Posted 14 August , 2017 (edited) The Fleet Air Arm Museum has his Plymouth Division RMLI attestation and discharge record (there may be other papers). A single page ledger record can be downloaded from Kew here: http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/D7777980 Edited 14 August , 2017 by horatio2

I am grateful. Best regards, Frogsmile
