kinsalegreg Posted 12 August , 2017 Share Posted 12 August , 2017 I have discovered via pension records that my grandfather - Serj. Frederick Baker - who had served in the Rangers in Kinsale for the first part of the war, was deployed in 1917 to Mesopotamia. Can anyone please recommend a good, detailed survey of the of the campaign?
robertb Posted 24 August , 2017 Share Posted 24 August , 2017 Try the Official Histories. History Of The Great War: The Campaign In Mesopotamia 1914-1918 Volumes I-IV by F J Moberly. 1923-1927. Available Naval-Military Press (quite expensive I think). Guest Posted 24 August , 2017 Share Posted 24 August , 2017 Jourdain's monumental three volume history of the Connaught Rangers is an exceptional piece of research. It will however set you back a few punts.
kinsalegreg Posted 22 October , 2017 Author Share Posted 22 October , 2017 Thanks both. I'll be searching libraries. I did buy Jourdain's Ranging memories and that was expensive!
archangel9 Posted 22 October , 2017 Share Posted 22 October , 2017 War Jottings by Fred Peal might be worth a look. John
