ROUGHRIDERS YEOMANRY CAP ABDGE CLOTH BACKINGS

I recently bought a large City of London Roughriders cap badge (the large type with the voided central coat of arms) which was worn on peaked caps before the regt started wearing sidecaps and berets and wore the RR and spur collar dog for ease of size. I saw another today for sale by a dealer with the backing cloth in place. This one was in purple but I am sure I have also seen them in patterned blue? anyone know the correct Regtl colour? Was there a cahnge or perhaps a significance attached to the colour such as sqn identity?

Any ideas?
