Hi Pals,

According to an elderly relative my Grandad was the only survivor of a sinking during ww1 his name was Farley anyone got any ideas on this.

Could be any number of ships, although to have just one survivor is unusual: even HMS Hood had three, and she was blown to pieces in choppy Arctic waters.

Have you got his ADM188 (service papers) from the NA - it should list his ships and from that one can do further research?

Hi Richard,

Thanks for the thread, details from relative very sketchy things get muddled over the years she may well have," the only survivor bit " wronge or it could have been a smaller vessel.

And on the HMS Hood detail.

One of the survivors was my divisional Officer at HMS Ganges in 1968.
