I wondered if it was confusion with his brother Harry, but he seems to have had his arm amputated in 1917 after an accident at the Sheaf Ironworks. There's a mention in the Boston Guardian (16/10/1915) of Arthur being home on leave, having been wounded in the leg by a bullet at Ypres on 25/7/1915. Week off next week might help after a weekend visit to the wrinklies.
