Remembered Today:

Certificates for Gallantry - 16th (Irish) and 36th (Ulster) Divisions. Anyone got one?

Afternoon all,

I am designing some exhibition panels for a Messines/Passchendaele project. The panels show documents like the memorial scroll, discharge document and others. I have come across two examples of certificates awarded for gallantry issued by the 36th Ulster and 16th Irish Divisions and would love to get hold of a high quality image of one of each for the panels. They will only be used in a physical not-for-profit exhibition.

Does anyone have examples they would be willing to digitally share?

Examples here:

Thanks in anticipation,

Dave

Dear Dave,

I have the medals, a photograph, and the two Mentioned in Despatches certificates and Belgian Order of the Crown and Croix de Guerre framed certificate, for Capt George Barrett Goyder, Indian Army Reserve of Officers and General List.

He was awarded these, as well as a French Croix de Guerre, for his efforts as Assistant Provost Marshal, attached 36th (Ulster) Division (injured)594287c294596_CaptGeorgeBarrettGoyderVD.jpg.4fd864a25d736025e3b43c344859f4ae.jpg594287d1f0757_GoyderinNineofClubsattireca1910.jpg.bf02fa472a288a1807cdb0079c03d3fd.jpg594287f444501_1917MiDCaptGoyder.jpg.beb427e60380eb9202c36341b40cc895.jpg5942881c4833d_1919MiDCaptGoyder.thumb.jpg.bb1afe9b66920d75fd71aadde21c88fa.jpg5942881c4833d_1919MiDCaptGoyder.thumb.jpg.bb1afe9b66920d75fd71aadde21c88fa.jpg5942887b74aae_CaptGoyderFr.CroixdeGuerre.thumb.jpg.66b027247aa67a6311117e21a019c9a8.jpg.

The awards were all gazetted, and his French Croix de Guerre appeared in a list, printed in Falls' history of the division. Disappointingly, he was not shown in "Ulster Will Fight".

You are welcome to use these attached, if needed...

Are there 36 (Ulster) Div-related Army Lists which include Capt Goyder?

Kindest regards,

Kimberley John Lindsay.

Dear Dave,

Here is the Belgian certificate, which is quite large. Unlike the Capt G. B. Goyder, VD (Indian Volunteer Officers' Decoration, awarded 1924), Mention in Despatches certificates, the Belgian award actually mentions 36th (Ulster) Division...

Kindest regards,

Dear Dave, dear GWF members

Any Great War 36th (Ulster) Division 1915-19 photos/images of Capt G. B. Goyder (HQ Staff etc) would be most welcome.

The photos I have of that gallant and capable Officer, are all of circa 1910 vintage, when he was in Lahore with the Indian Finance Department, and an Officer with 5th Punjab Light Horse...

Kindest regards,

Kim.

Many thanks Kim. That's a lovely group, and some very interesting documents.

As it happens Nick Metcalfe, whose site I referenced in the OP, has kindly supplied some larger images so thanks again.
