I am trying to track down the location the Canadian Cavalry Brigade spent some time after the battles of Rifle and Moreuil Wood. Doug504 Posted 12 June , 2017 Share Posted 12 June , 2017 This may narrow down your search a bit, but I still haven't been able to locate a map image of the reference given. The regimental war diaries for Aug 19: "At 12:00 noon instructions were received from 6th Canadian Infantry Brigade, as per attached copy of our order to be prepared to move by 4:00 pm Destination unknown. In accordance with O.O. 282, we moved by route march from Marcelcave to Boves Wood map reference Amiens 17, arriving at 5:15 am 20th instant. Nobody fell out of the column." The regimental history indicates that it was about a 10 mile march over fields that had been part of the battle 10 days earlier (approx Aug. 9, 1918). Modern IGN map here July 1918 1:20k trench map here Marcelcave is approx 15km to the ENE of the forest. Doug A 1916 edition of the 1:100k topographic map Sheet 17 Amiens can be found here BOVES WOOD is ~6 miles SE of Amiens on this map.
