Mike Cross Posted 27 May , 2017 Share Posted 27 May , 2017 I did some work on those Lowestoft area men during the early stages of the excavations at Fromelles. Still remember some of the names - Barkaway, Wright, Wood, Mantripp - who were casualties serving with the 2/1st Bucks Battalion of the OBLI on or around July 19th 1916. I only had a peripheral role when family links were being sought if a DNA sample was to be obtained, and made no progress. Assumed that there had been a transfer of a large group of men from the Suffolk Regiment. We do have a copy of this booklet in the Soldiers of Oxfordshire archive at Woodstock.
