Guest Posted 13 May , 2017 Share Posted 13 May , 2017 Hello Can anyone advise me if Donegal Farm still exists in modern day Kemmel ? It was the site of a fierce battle in April 1918 and where my great uncle died.
Don Regiano Posted 13 May , 2017 Share Posted 13 May , 2017 Arthur. Welcme to the forum. According to McMaster, Donegal Farm was located at 28 SW3 N32. c 3. 5 If you check out this webpage you will see the coordinates place it to the SW of the words Donegal Camp: http://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/#zoom=16&lat=50.7673&lon=2.8111&layers=101464921&b=1 You can play with the transparency of the overlay to obtain a modern day view of the location. love4history Posted 24 May , 2017 Share Posted 24 May , 2017 (edited) From Google Maps. Still quite a similar view to the one given in the Trench Map. Edited 24 May , 2017 by love4history
Don Regiano Posted 24 May , 2017 Share Posted 24 May , 2017 I notice my previous post seemed to have lost the satellite overlay so trying again as it confirms love's extract from Google Maps: http://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/#zoom=16&lat=50.7673&lon=2.8111&layers=101464921&b=
