Remembered Today:

Crows nest

I now know the location of the 'Crows Nest' in the British trenches immediately north of ancre.

However, having never been to this location, I am working on written evidence/basic maps.

The name indicates a piece of high ground? Anyone confirm if this is true?

I can picture the bit of high ground you mean, but have never heard it called that.

The only 'Crows Nest' I know is a German position in the Hindenburg Line captured by the Canadian Corps in September 1918.

Or are you thinking of the suburb in the north of Sydney? There were quite a few Poms 'entrenched' there last time I checked, so that could explain the confusion!
