Shannock Bob Posted 18 April , 2017 Share Posted 18 April , 2017 Here is a link to the Flickr album of my recent trip to Monchy. It certainly wont be my last as I would love to do more walking of the broader area. It was a very memorable trip and one I am so glad I made. Thanks to all those who have helped with snippets of information and input prior to the trip Rob https://flic.kr/s/aHskY71vgF

Fattyowls Posted 18 April , 2017 Share Posted 18 April , 2017 Good photos Rob, as a man who struggles with horizontality when photographing landscapes I'm impressed. One of my friends talks about the big sky around Arras and you've certainly illustrated that. Just as an aside I have a rare horizontal horizon photo looking back to Monchy from a feature that used to be called the Hump between Fontaine and Bullecourt. Did you by any chance take any looking south from where you were? They are likely to have three wind turbines in them. One of mine most likely fell there 100 years ago next Sunday. Pete. P.S. Like you I'd like to walk the wider Arras battlefield, but the distances look a bit daunting unless you have a motor and are prepared to do circuits. I tend to get the train over so it's a bit problematical.
