rhimsl Posted 16 December , 2004 Share Posted 16 December , 2004 Last night I was sitting and staring at one of my plaques and its memorial scroll and it starting me thinking about the person who had to calligraphy the name and unit on the scroll. I have dabbled a little in calligraphy and know how hard it is but I couldn’t imagine how hard it would have been to do it over and over on these scrolls. Not to mention what a sad undertaking it must have been! To sit there with a pile of blank scrolls and a seemingly endless list of names, knowing that everyone of them had died. I bet it really put into prospective the enormity of the loss of life. Then to think what effect these scrolls would have on the receiving family and what it would mean to them. The one think I love about collecting items like this is that no matter how long you have them they always keep you thinking! Happy Holidays!
