PhilB Posted 15 December , 2004 Share Posted 15 December , 2004 There has been discussion recently about the value of darkening brass badges to make them less visible to snipers. Nobody has mentioned the painted badges on the sides (fronts?) of steel helmets. (I`m sure bk can supply examples!). Surely these would have presented a good aiming point as one walked along a trench? Nobody seems to have suggested darkening them! Phil B
harribobs Posted 15 December , 2004 Share Posted 15 December , 2004 i was under the impression that helmets were first sand finished and later covered in hessian to make them less obvious targets i'm sure someone will correct me!

bkristof Posted 16 December , 2004 Share Posted 16 December , 2004 i think the paint wasnt so reflective, so less dangerous + mostly at the sides of the helmet...
