stephen p nunn Posted 23 March , 2017 Share Posted 23 March , 2017 Just returned from our latest trip to Ypres. it was a big birthday for Mrs. Maldon, so we had daughter, son-in-law and new grandson with us. I took the opportunity to explain the Great War Heritage to my new companion. here is how it went: Tuesday 21/3/17 Arrived in Calais at 9.20 local time. Drove to Ypres and booked in at the Ariane. Walked to Essex Farm to pay our respects to Pte. A.C. Evans. Back to the hotel. At the Menin Gate for 8pm. Evening meal in L'Atelier, Wednesday 22/3/17 To Belgium Battery Corner to pay our respects to Gnr. A. Fish. To St. Sixtus to drink some of their 12. Canada Farm. Back to the hotel. At the Menin Gate for 8pm. Evening meal in Vivaldi. Thursday 23/3/17 Lijessenthok to pay our respects to Pte. G. Nelson. Home in the UK for tea. Some pictures will now follow...... I was actually there at the same time as you, coincidentally. Great weather, if chilly, wasn't it. Often seems that way in Flanders in March.
