hazelclark Posted 20 March , 2017 Share Posted 20 March , 2017 I am still reading Neilland's book about the Generals on the Western Front. (been busy) Although I have previously read a few books on the subject of Loos, this was the first time that it was emphasized that Kitchener was ultimately responsible for insisting that the BEF launch this offensive that almost no one seemed to think had any chance of success, including the French who were promoting it. Seems that every time I read a new book on any WW1 topic, something different hits my consciousness. Going to the "source" is all very well but "sources" change it seems and become unreliable.
