Remembered Today:

Medals to Canadian Pioneer Units

One often comes across a CEF named CAN.PNR.BN. but more difficult to find are pairs to the five infantry battalions which were converted to a pioneer role in France. These battalions were the 48th, 67th, 107th, 123rd, and 124th Bns, and the medals are named to them as infantry eg. 123456 Pte.A.Bloggins,107-Can.Inf.

I was lucky enough to secure a pair to the 123rd last week on ebay, and that leaves just the 124th Bn in my quest to have a group to each unit. Also, a 67th pair was on speedbid recently.Pairs tend to be more pricey than those to most line infantry battalions.

Any collectors with an interest in pioneer units should keep these five units in mind.
