Paul Reed Posted 14 December , 2004 Share Posted 14 December , 2004 Out of interest, does anyone know if there was more than one Frank Richards in the 2nd Bn Royal Welch Fusiliers? Was there also an officer of this name? Or was 'Big Dick' unique to the battalion?
Muerrisch Posted 15 December , 2004 Share Posted 15 December , 2004 a Richards Pte FH was kia with 2RWF and I will look him up. None on 1914 medal roll. No officers I can fine: JDM Richards is nearest.
Arnie Posted 15 December , 2004 Share Posted 15 December , 2004 Langley It would seem that everyone has heard of Richard's Book 'Old Soldiers nevr Die'. I remember reading a presequel to it called 'Soldier Sahib' about his service in India and China. Arnie
Muerrisch Posted 15 December , 2004 Share Posted 15 December , 2004 Yes indeed, I think 'Old Soldier Sahib' is in many ways the better book. We are working on bringing a new, luxury edition out next year, 100 relevant photographs, of which 90% never seen before, and fully annotated, footnoted and indexed, with appendices on uniforms, weapons, pay and conditions of service, enlistment procedures and much more. New version already fully drafted.
