Guest lindabailey Posted 11 November , 2002 Share Posted 11 November , 2002 This weekend I was shown a small scrap of paper with the following words writen on it: 19628 Pte Jas Mc Ivor 2nd Royal Scots Fusiliers Attatched Military Police (possibly) B.E.J. or B.E.F. France x 12th Division I presume that with the number I can go somewhere to look at more information for James- where? Public Records Office or does the Royal Scots Fusiliers have a museum. Thank you for any advice. Linda Bailey
Jock Bruce Posted 11 November , 2002 Share Posted 11 November , 2002 I would try the PRO first - the medal records should give some more facts about units served and there is the chance that his service papers survive. You can also read the war diairies for the units he served in. See their website for more details. http://www.pro.gov.uk/index.htm The RSF were amalgamated with the Highland Light Infantry in the early 60s to form the Royal Highland Fusiliers. The RHF museum is in Sauchiehall St, Glasgow. My own experience (and others on this forum might have had more luck) is that many/most regimental museums have very few holdings on individual soldiers.
