Chris_Baker Posted 12 December , 2004 Share Posted 12 December , 2004 James Francis Farrell served as a Drummer with the 7th Manchesters. It appears (no service record, no medals) that he did not leave the UK during the war. In 1917 he was transferred (Section P Reserve?) to work in the Broughton Copper Works. He was killed there in an accident on 12 December 1919. This info appears in the Salford volume of the National Roll of Honour. Can anyone shed any light on this Works or the circumstances of his death? And I have just realised that it is the anniversary of his death; rest in peace. HERITAGE PLUS Posted 12 December , 2004 Share Posted 12 December , 2004 Chris Broughton Copper Works was at some stage (1937?) taken over by ICI Metals Ltd. and merged with The Yorkshire Copper Company to form Yorkshire Imperial Metals Ltd. John_Hartley Posted 13 December , 2004 Share Posted 13 December , 2004 Chris You probably need Drummy for this. He's usually the resident expert on all things Salfordian. John
