Hi all

Just a quick question. Can anyone help me identify what the stripes and chevrons on the bottom of the two seated soldiers sleeves are for. I think they would be for wounds and length of service but can anyone be more specific please

Help gratefully recived

Cheers Chris

soldiers' left cuffs : good conduct badge [2 years], and [vertical] wound badges, one for each occasion wounded or gassed.

right cuff: overseas service chevrons.

Use SEARCH for a lot more on these.

Oh, and the crossed rifles badge lower left signifies marksman.

Chap on the left has two Overseas Chevrons on his right cuff (this means the photo must have been taken post January 1918) and one Wound Stripe (Vertical one) and one Good Conduct Chevron.

The chap on the right has two Wound Stripes and one Good Conduct Chevron.

OK Jim, you take the chevrons and explain in detail, I'll stick to the good conduct badges and wounds!

What has the LH guy got on his L wrist? (Looks like 2 watches!) and the RH guy has a glove on one hand (Wound?). And those belt buckles? Phil B
