Cyclists in action

I recently bought the '60th London Divisional Cyclists Company diary' compiled by its survivors and thought these two sketches would interest. According to the book the dummies were used successfully several times although  other units achieved less success due to lack of training. The other sketch is of an incident in the Spring 1918 offensive when the company had a skirmish and retreated. The solitary figure is the company commander -Captain Cole -who stood as shown with a SMLE  at the crossroads covering his men's withdrawal. The artist was drawing the sketch from memory I think.
