Bill Smy Posted 9 December , 2004 Share Posted 9 December , 2004 I am searching for the given names, rank, and citation for the MC of G.D. Stewart. He may have belonged to the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders. I have tried searching the on-line London Gazette, but have had no success (perhaps I missed him). bill_smy@yahoo.com
rflory Posted 10 December , 2004 Share Posted 10 December , 2004 Bill: Are you sure of the initials? The only two officers with the name G. D. Stewart are one in the ASC and one in the RAMC, and as November 1918 neither had received the MC. Regards. Dick
Bill Smy Posted 10 December , 2004 Author Share Posted 10 December , 2004 First, I should have stated it was a World War II award. I believe the initials are correct, but it may be D. G Stewart. Sorry Dick
rflory Posted 10 December , 2004 Share Posted 10 December , 2004 WWII makes it a might bit harder. He is listed in the October 1943 Army List as a 2nd Lieut. Regular Army Emergency Commission in the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders with a date of rank of 6 Sep 1942 but without an MC. He is listed in the August 1946 Army List as a War Substantive Lieutenant effective 6 Sep 42 and a Temp. Captain effective 12 Oct 45 and with an MC. I will go through the LGs I have from Sep 42 to Oct 45 and see if I can find him. He is listed as G D Stewart. Regards. Dick
