Tam Posted 9 December , 2004 Share Posted 9 December , 2004 I am posting this as maybe some of you have never seen one before. It belonged to my Grandfather and I am not exactly sure what it is, I think it`s some kind of discharge paper. To fill in the text that isn`t clear, The date is 17,Jan 1919 at Duddingston (Near Glasgow) The Record Office is Dover,Theatre of War is Eastern The Post Office stamps at the bottom are Innerwick which is a small village near Dunbar in East Lothian. His Unit is 1/1 Seige Artilery and underneath is written "R10 Rae" or something similar. Anyone know what that means? Please.
hmsk212 Posted 10 December , 2004 Share Posted 10 December , 2004 "R10 Rae" or something similar. The last word looks more like Bde (Brigade) than Rae Steve

Tam Posted 10 December , 2004 Author Share Posted 10 December , 2004 Thanks gents for your replies. Don`t know much about Grandad`s War service but he survived WW1 and died of old age in 1964. He was wounded in action but no-one knows where or when. He was married in Leith, Edinburgh in March 1917, Marrage lines says he was stationed at Maryhill Barracks and say he was in the Royal Field Artillery, not the Garrison which is mentioned on the other documents I have for him. (Probabley a regestrar`s mistake.) The Medal file gives him the Victory and the BWM. I`m assuming he got married when at home recovering from his wounds? Does that seem right?
