1st Battn Norfolk Regiment

Hi  my first post hope its in right place!

I am following the life of a Norfolk soldier and in 1917 he was transferred to 1st Battn from 7th. I have all the relevant diaries except from December 1917 until March 1918 when the Battn were sent to Italy. He was killed when the Battn returned to France and I have followed his story from 1914 until his death, it seems a shame to leave a gap here but the diary for the Italian period is not digitalised and wondered if anyone had in general terms what they were doing for this short period in Italy....

Thanks...

Welcome to the Forum !

5 Division moved to Italy in November 1917. 1 Norfolks were a part of 15 Infantry Brigade. The Long Long Trail, at top left of this page, has a lot of info about a lot of things, and says that the Division prepared for action in the mountains of  Brenta before moving into the line along the River Piave until they had to return to France in Mar 1918.

I may be able to look at the Diary at Kew this week (WO95/4217) if I get time, and try to give a short summary.
