Curlew1919 Posted 21 November , 2016 Share Posted 21 November , 2016 Looking for info on how Private 22786 James Addison died while serving with 2nd Battalion KOYLI 3rd December 1915 His Medal Index Card states he was accidentally killed? His grave is in Carnoy Military Cemetery Has anyone got a battalion diary for a few day leading up to that date that may shed some light?
clk Posted 21 November , 2016 Share Posted 21 November , 2016 (edited) Hi Curlew, The diary entry (whilst in "Trenches at Carnoy") for the 3rd is short and appears to read: "1 man missing from patrol. Dugouts falling in 2 men buried & killed" Regards Chris Edited 21 November , 2016 by clk
Curlew1919 Posted 21 November , 2016 Author Share Posted 21 November , 2016 (edited) Cheers clk Great research bonny lad According to CWGC In December 1915 the first 2 deaths for 2nd KOYLI was 3rd December for J. Addison 22786 and A. Marshall 22906 (graves at Carnoy Military Cemetery) The other deaths that month for 2nd KOYLI (only 6 in total) were: 1 man recorded the 12th December (grave at Carnoy Military Cemetery) 1 man recorded the 20th December (grave at Carnoy Military Cemetery) 1 man recorded the 26th December (grave at Corbie Communal Cemetery) 1 man recorded the 31st December (grave at Etaples Military Cemetery) So J. Addison 22786 and A. Marshall 22906 must have been the two men buried & killed when Dugouts collapsed Hence Accidentally Killed on James Addison's Medal Index Card Edited 21 November , 2016 by Curlew1919 typo
