Tom Wales Posted 12 November , 2016 Share Posted 12 November , 2016 I am trying to trace a man from the 1st battalion Loyal North Lancs. He was Drummer Patrick Crowley , service number 7028. From his medal card it looks like he may have been still with the regiment in 1924. Is there any way I can check this with service records and when /where he might have left the service? Thanks Tom
sotonmate Posted 12 November , 2016 Share Posted 12 November , 2016 Tom The 1924 reference is to approve the Clasp and Roses for attachment to his 1914 Star ribbon. The Regiment's application for this was made in Aug 1920. His 1914 Star was approved for issue in April 1918, his British War and Victory Medals in Nov 1919. It does not necessarily mean that he was still serving in 1924, but you can check with Army Records to see: http://www.veterans-uk.info/service_records/service_records.html
clk Posted 12 November , 2016 Share Posted 12 November , 2016 Hi Tom, Following on from sotonmate, below is an extract of an index to service files in the possession of the MoD which they published. It shows men who served post war, and had a pre 1901 DoB. The date of birth is given in the USA format. Regards Chris
