Remembered Today:

Light Car Patrol Ford Model T's

Could someone cite a wartime reference relating to paint color(s) on Model T's being used by the Light Car Patrols in Libya and Egypt?  I've seen colorized photos of olive green Model T's and one reconstruction painted a bright shiny yellow.  Are both correct?  Neither?  Any assistance would be appreciated!

All the best,

Dan

Dan,

This WW1 Ford Model T Ambulance may have the ' Ford Factory ' applied colour finish which could have also been used for the Light Car Patrol Fords.

Dear Dan,

I commend you for delving into Ford Vans operated by the ASC and others during the Great War in the Middle East and elsewhere.

They certainly seem to have been of a lighter shade - perhaps sand-coloured - rather than green. I am sorry not to be more helpful than that...

Kindest regards,

Kim.

Hello- I would think that any color other than the black color the T's left the Piquette Avenue plant with, would have to have been applied by the appropriate Ford purchaser.  4th Gordons has done a book on Ford ambulances in France, perhaps he has an opinion.
