Dai Bach y Sowldiwr Posted 30 October , 2016 Share Posted 30 October , 2016 I think you need to be more specific. Please give us as a minimum, his full name, regiment and service number. Origin, date of birth, parents' names would be a nice bonus

Guest Posted 12 October , 2018 Share Posted 12 October , 2018 Hi Ken, That is the fella that Gary is looking into. Gary and I are distant cousins who have 'met' through genealogy. As a matter of interest, (to you too Gary), I have found that JN McMillan, (Gordons father), was reported in the Huddersfield Chronical on 10 Dec 1914 as being a member of 7 Coy Huddersfield Military Training Corps. As I understand it the MTCs were used as 'feeder' units for the regulars to prep the new recruits. I do find this a little odd for Joseph as he would have been 57 and 5 months and looking at the recruitment poster displayed around Huddersfield back in 1914 he was way over the maximum age. As yet I have found no previous service for Joseph.
