david murdoch Posted 12 October , 2016 Share Posted 12 October , 2016 Would someone have photos of the Loos Memorial (panels 78 - 83 for Black Watch)? I'm looking for Private Robert Bain S/6249 2nd Black Watch. He's my son in law's great grandfather.

david murdoch Posted 14 October , 2016 Author Share Posted 14 October , 2016 Michel. Thanks so much for this! I have found out quite a lot about him in the last week from the UK records, but I do not have his army service record. He is listed as being 2nd Battalion Black Watch, but I found on his daughter's birth registration in April 1915 he noted as serving with 8th Battalion Black Watch. I'm thinking he volunteered and joined 8th Battalion between October 1914 (when he was married) and April 1915 and possibly transferred to 2nd Battalion when he went oversees in June 1915. He was 26 years old and left behind his wife of 19 years and daughter of 6 months.
