PAB Posted 4 December , 2004 Share Posted 4 December , 2004 Being a bit cheeky here. does anyone have a picture of the 41st Division memorial at Flers that I could download to add to the personal details that I am putting together? Many thanks in anticipation. Regards, P.
JulianB Posted 6 December , 2004 Share Posted 6 December , 2004 PAB. yes, big things Divisions (yes, I'm new to this aswell). 10th Q was in 124th, but 11th in 123rd which is where my gfthr was. as far as I understand it , 123rd was in reserve until the late evening. If you ever get to Kew there is a very interesting report on the action by CO 41st - Gen Lawson in the Div WD. J
PAB Posted 8 December , 2004 Author Share Posted 8 December , 2004 Julian, Many thanks. I don't think I will be able to get to Kew for quite some time. However, I am sure that our research paths will cross on many occasions in the future. I will keep a look out for anything I may find on the 11th (Lambeth) Battalion and let you know. Regards, P. HERITAGE PLUS Posted 10 December , 2004 Share Posted 10 December , 2004 It may be of interest to you that Albert Toft who was responsible for the 41 Div. Memorial used the same figure in slightly different pose for his Fusiliers Memorial in Holborn, London. http://pmsa.courtauld.ac.uk/images/nrpCL/clcol163.jpg Dave
Jason Robins Posted 10 December , 2004 Share Posted 10 December , 2004 Just picked up a leaflet in Tommy over the weekend of new self catering accommodation in Flers overlooking the memorial with unique views from the first floor windows. Apparently owned by a British lad. Full details at: http://www.dinnakenhouse.plus.com Trust this helps.
