Does anyone happen to have a copy of Ypres Sheet 28 October 1914, 1:40000 scale? it is reproduced in Peter Chasseaud's 'Mapping the Front' but I'm not sure if it's available on any of the map CDs etc

Thanks,

Andy

The 1:40,000 maps of that date have the old system is squaring so care is required when using map references..

I have two 1:40,000 maps from that date, if you give me the map ref. I can chop a bit out for you.

Hi Howard, its the area around Gheluvelt that I'm interested in, so square 16-17-18 and 21-22-23. Not sure if they fall under K or L in the referencing.

Cheers,

Andy

For comparison, a map dated 1915 with the revised system of squaring.

The tiny file size limit on the forum is a severe restriction for maps so these are heavily compressed.
