eagleeye Posted 2 December , 2004 Share Posted 2 December , 2004 Hi, I am researching Pte Albert Fitzgibbon 13370 9th Bn Sherwood Foresters, Notts & Derby Regt. He was wounded at Gallipoli August 1915 and sent back to the UK. After that his medal records show him as L/Cpl 45471 West Yorkshire Regt and then L/Cpl 23488 North Staffordshire Regt Would he have been transferred once recovered from his wounds? how did he end up in the North Staffs? Any suggestions? Rod
KONDOA Posted 2 December , 2004 Share Posted 2 December , 2004 Hi Rod, Possible scenario is that he was also wounded or otherwise disabled whilst with the West Yorks. Hence he would be returned to service where needed. Dont suppose you have any dates and Battalions yet?? Roop
Stuart Brown Posted 3 December , 2004 Share Posted 3 December , 2004 Greetings, Did you know that he was MID General Hamilton's Despatch? (Local paper 4.2.16) Searching the Gazette on the name was no use but on the serial number found it. LG 28 January 1916 Page 8 "No.13370 Private (Acting Lance-Corporal)A. Fitzgibbon." eagleeye Posted 3 December , 2004 Author Share Posted 3 December , 2004 Hi, Thanks for the replies. Poop, At the moment I don't know any dates, I only recently found out about the other two regt's from his medal citation. I will have to research them further. Stuart, I had checked the LG's but only under his name, I wll go and have another look at the edition you mentioned. Thanks guys Rod
