Remembered Today:

Yorkshire Hussars in Scarborough

There are so many sub-forums now that I am not sure where to put this, so I've put it here.

re: Yorkshire Hussars at Scarborugh during the bombardment.

Was there a company of Yorkshire Hussars at Scarborough during the bombardment?

If there was, where were they encamped?

When did they arrive and when did they leave?

References appreciated!

Simon.

There were men of the 14th Kings Hussars at the Burniston Road barracks - 'Remember Scarborough - A result of the first arms race of the twentieth century' ISBN 9781445623924

You can view parts of the book here - https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=wGOIAwAAQBAJ&pg=PT2&lpg=PT2&dq=ISBN+9781445623924&source=bl&ots=lGLekb_1db&sig=xhMZWOZ1dZLVTYmVpigciY1nU40&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjosLjS5PfMAhWKL8AKHS2ABp8Q6AEIIDAA#v=onepage&q=ISBN%209781445623924&f=false

Please see "Bombardment - The Day the East Coast Bled" (1999) by Mark Massay- Great Northern Publishing ISBN 0 9535204 1 2. It refers to the Yorkshire Hussars as guarding the Scarborough Waterworks pumping station in Cayton Bay.
