Guest Severn Posted 30 November , 2004 Share Posted 30 November , 2004 I have just found out that my grandfather servedin the theatre f war in 117 france -approximately 19.9.15 time - he was awarded both the victory medal and 15 star. Several sources of info are available: Service Record (although only around a third survived); PRO Medal Index card - on line at the PRO Medal Rolls for the unit he served in; PRO If he was KIA, cwgc and sdgw will have entries for him Battalion / Unit War Diaries Local paper entries at the local libraries usually Books on the unit he served in etc ... Then, Id suggest you find out what his unit did, where they were and things like that to add meat to the story if you wanna get into details?
