Mangoman Posted 16 May , 2016 Share Posted 16 May , 2016 According to his M.I.C my grandfather's brother enlisted with the above Young Soldiers Battalion on 14th July 1917 when aged 17 years and 7 months. My underdstanding was that volunteers in the YS Battalions couldn't enlist until 18 years and 1 month old (although this was later to change to 18 yrs 6mths). As Redvers was born in December 1898 he was only 17years 7 months so did he lie about his age or were there different rules for enlisting in the YS Battalions that I am not aware of?
