Here is a poor scan of my grandfathers WW1 medals which have been stored in the background cloth since his death in 1970.

I know the DCM and from looking through this forum the 1914 star but have no idea what the others are although they appear to be service medals.

His nameplate is included showing name, rank and battalion.

Below is a photo taken with a photo of his mother on the table superimposed making it look as if he was thinking of her.

The silver one is the British War Medal and the bronze one is the Allied Victory medal.

He also has three wound stripes on his lower left arm.

Slight correction, it is the 1914/15 Star in the picture. Nice group.

London Gazette 21 Oct. 1918:

6306 Sjt. William Hunt, R. Fus. (Acton).

For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in action. He set a most excellent

example to his men, and proved himself a remarkably good leader in all the large

operations in which the battalion has taken part.
