Sadly, yes. It has been discussed elsewhere on the Forum. I think it's mawkish nonsense; however, I am thoroughly going to enjoy the reaction in the Quiet Carriage of the 0708 Southampton Airport Parkway to London Waterloo service.

Ah, sorry Steven (et al),

I missed the previous mention on here.

I wish I'd thought of it. I could even have done a few 'keepy-up's' with a football at the local cenotaph for the Loos centenary.

Starting a donkey sanctuary might be more practical.

I posted about it HERE three weeks ago. I must confess that I am now rather less keen than I was then.

Cheers William,

I should have checked before posting.

It's not something I would personally want to do but each to their own.

I don't think I would take a original whistle onto a battlefield, in case some well meaning guardian who didn't know the difference, accused me of removing a battlefield relic.

Post #2. I agree that this is mawkish nonsense and I wonder at the thought process behind the decision of the WFA to promote it.

Two minutes spent in silent remembrance at a local or nearby war memorial would be far more respectful and dignified.
