Company indicators

Hi there,

Does anyone know where I can find out about the indicators worn on British tunics? I do not mean the div patches, just the patches used to show which company the men were in.

The Mike Chappel book has many loose references to these badges, but no firm evidence of where his information comes from. Does anyone know of any orders that were sent out to say this? Was it a standard colour combination for every battalion, or, indeed, different?

I would be grateful for any ideas or thoughts.
