Could someone please do a SD look-up and tell me which of these two men has a Barrow-in-Furness connection (if any)?

PARKINSON, Pte. William, G/3538. 2nd Bn. The Queen’s (Royal West Surrey Regt.).

PARKINSON, Pte. William, 11940. 2nd Bn. Scots Guards.

Could you also let me know what the "W" stands for in this soldiers' name and also let me have his SD details?

GROVES, Pte. W., 51483. 21st Bn. Manchester Regt.

Cheers.

Andy.

Thanks for the prompt replies !

The memorial I am tracing does not give regiments - just date of death and, would you believe it, according to the CWGC there are two W. Parkinsons listed as dying on the 16th May, 1915 !

I guess he is the one listed as residing at Preston although there is more digging to be done I think.

Andy.
