Inspired by centenaries of historic events, Oxford Brookes University is running a series of exciting history and history writing one-day courses:

The Easter Rising: its History and Literature, Saturday 14 May, 10:30 – 16:30, John Henry Brookes Building, Oxford

Seen by some as the birth of modern Irish nationalism, the 1916 Easter Rising was pivotal in Irish and British history, and its reverberations are still being felt today. The course will be led by historian, Dr Donal Lowry, and Irish literature expert Dr Eóin Flannery.

Writing the First World War, Saturday 2 July, 10:30 – 17:00, Soldiers of Oxfordshire Museum, Woodstock, OX20 1SN

Commemorating the centenary of the Somme, this workshop is suitable for anyone, who’s writing or wanting to write First World War non-fiction. Led by three outstanding professionals: Stephen Barker, military historian; Dr Jane Potter, literary historian and Dr Michael LoCicero, author and Commissioning Editor for Helion & Company.
