Guest Posted 1 April , 2016 Share Posted 1 April , 2016 Courage Without Glory: The British Army on the Western Front 1915 Has anyone read this? I can't believe I missed this. Published in Nov 2015. Helion. Wolverhampton Military Studies. Fifteen chapters by fifteen different authors. Looks like a 'must buy'. Already ordered but would be interested in hearing any comments. Gareth Davies Posted 1 April , 2016 Share Posted 1 April , 2016 Yes, a good spread of subjects. I don't think we made the most of 1915 in terms of 100th anniversaries.

Guest Posted 1 April , 2016 Share Posted 1 April , 2016 I don't think we made the most of 1915 in terms of 100th anniversaries. Agreed in spades. I fear "60,000 killed" in the first twenty minutes on 1st July will overshadow everything.
Steven Broomfield Posted 1 April , 2016 Share Posted 1 April , 2016 Yes, a good spread of subjects. I don't think we made the most of 1915 in terms of 100th anniversaries. Liverpool Jocks did a pretty fair job at Ypres last May, and the London Irish (accompanied by some London Jocks) had a pretty good stab at it in September at Loos. I should know: I was there (at both). In fact, the Liverpool boys dod an absolutely splendid job. Humbling would be a good word.
Gareth Davies Posted 1 April , 2016 Share Posted 1 April , 2016 There were lots of individual events that were almost certainly very good. But where was the overarching narrative?
